Leadership

Capatoria Bailey – Service Center Coordinator
Capatoria distributes USDA and CARES food boxes to families 
who have left the shelter and continue to need this support and 
community members who are struggling to feed their families. 

Anita Crocker – Education Coordinator
Anita is actually an employee of Petersburg Public Schools.  he
ensures that school-age children are back in the classroom with 
minimal loss of school days.  If the school requires additional 
documentation, she assists the mother in obtaining them.  If the 
mother requests that her children remain in their school of origin, 
Anita works with the school district to arrange transportation to 
pick the children up at the shelter.  he meets with the teachers to 
advocate for the children’s needs.

Jean Grim Jean provides case management to the women in the shelter.
Together they develop a service plan and establish goals 
specific to the needs of the family.  Clients meet with Jean 
at least once a week.  Her door is always open if they need 
a shoulder to cry on, some additional advice, etc.

Jeanet King – Shelter Manager
Jeanet provides oversight of the shelter and its activities.  he 
coordinates activities with volunteers and community organizations 
and represents CARES in the community at large.  

Tiffany Lee -  ocial Services Coordinator
Tiffany works with the families who have left the shelter.  
Together they work through any problems the family may 
encounter.  If they need additional resources she helps them 
identify the specific need and locate The best resource to meet 
it.  Ideally, after a year, the family has developed the skills 
they need to maintain their new home.  

Avonne Scott – Children’s Services Coordinator
Avonne meets with mothers entering the shelter with their children.  
She assesses the children’s emotional, physical and social needs 
to ensure that they are met, whether at CARES or through a referral 
to another agency.  

Ann Wilson – Service Center Coodinator 
Ann helps shelter residents and community members access 
nonshelter services, such as clothing, household and personal 
hygiene items.  

Charlotte Zimmerman – Director of Operations
Charlotte manages the grants, reports, demographics and other 
macro agency functions.
